I've been thinking a lot on how to follow up my last burst of enthusiasm. I haven't gotten anywhere. Right after I posted that, I found out I was pregnant and have been pretty much just trying to maintain normalcy, forget revolutions!
I am still overwhelmed with the idea of Christ as a radical lover and am fascinated with how that will take meaning in my life. But I still have no clear conclusions or distinct ideas on how to move forward. So, I've been praying. And having some really lovely conversations with friends both new and old.
So moving on.....
Monday evenings I often sing Sacred Harp with a local singing group. The words of these hymns are old and sometimes fierce, somtimes haunting. The sound is raw and primal and one of the most beautiful sounds to be found on this earth. It is one of the things that restores me. This week, I had my schedule completely confused and to make matters worse, I had mis-informed a new friend as to where we would be meeting. So 7:00 rolled around and it was only the two of us. Actually, I think it was divine intervention (because my tired preggo brain isn't enough reason LOL!). We ended up going down the street to a local coffeehouse and enjoyed some serious conversation. I don't mean serious as in somber and solemn. I mean serious as in those truly rare and precious moments in life where you can be free from masks and games and honestly connect soul to soul with another person. I was so much more restored by this than I ever could have been singing my heart (or voice) out! It has been a long while since I have had a chance to sit and talk to another woman, a believer & follower of Christ who has some similar passions! I mean, hey, her pits are hairy too! Of course it was good conversation! So today I am thankful for the chance to have met and connected with a new friend.

How wonderful! I think it must be one of the greatest joys and blessings in this life to have and be with a soul-seer friend. Praise be to the God of all comfort! I am so glad for you. Blessings on your art show, sadly we will miss it as we will be out camping.
